Since 1935 Green Park has been a historical recreation and event space located at Pedion tou Areos, Athens.
For the last years of its operation, until 2008, year of its closure and abandonment, it was used as a cafe / bar.
For the opening night of the Green Park relaunching and revitalization on the 19th of June 2015, Arbit City Group carried out the ephemeral action of copying and duplicating the graffiti which could be found on the walls of the Green Park’s building as well as in its surroundings.
In an ever-changing space, before it may be remodeled and changed again, we chose to capture this specific time. This re-transcription was made with means that are consistent with the physical feeling of the space. It is an anti-monumental initiative that serves as a symbolic “freezing” of time and space.
Excerpts from the text concerning the Green Park’s relaunching initiative:
GreenPark’s relaunching and reactivation is an ephemeral action, deprived of a specified time horizon but with full consciousness that this project will not fall into the logic of ownership. We vindicate the importance of friendship as well as its self-evident political dimension without seeking any external ideological ratification. We would like to present friendship as a model for self-organizing and self-instituting and of course as a potential value which escapes neoliberal imperatives.

Το Green Park υπήρξε ένας ιστορικός χώρος αναψυχής και εκδηλώσεων στο Πεδίον του Άρεως από το 1935.
Τα τελευταία χρόνια της λειτουργίας του ήταν αναψυκτήριο, ενώ από το 2008 και έπειτα παρέμεινε εγκατελειμένο.
Στα πλαίσια των εγκαινίων της ενεργοποίησης του Green Park στις 19 Ιουνίου 2015, πραγματοποιήσαμε μια εφήμερη δράση αντιγραφής συνθημάτων και graffiti που υπήρχαν στο κτίριο και στον περιβάλλοντα χώρο.
Σε ένα συνεχώς μεταβαλλόμενο μέρος και πριν από την επόμενη ανάπλασή του, επιλέξαμε να αποτυπώσουμε μια χρονική στιγμή του. Η αναπαραγωγή των ιχνών των συνθημάτων καταργεί τη μοναδικότητά και την εφημερότητά τους.
Η μεταγραφή αυτή έγινε με μέσα που συνάδουν με την υλική ατμόσφαιρα του χώρου. Είναι μια κίνηση αντιμνημειακή που εξυπηρετεί ένα συμβολικό πάγωμα του τόπου και του χρόνου.

Η ενεργοποίηση του Green Park είναι μια εφήμερη δράση χωρίς ορισμένο χρονικό ορίζοντα αλλά με συνείδηση ότι δεν θα μπει σε λογική ιδιοκτησίας. Διεκδικούμε τη σημασία της φιλίας και την αυταπόδεικτη πολιτική της διάσταση χωρίς έξωθεν ιδεολογική επικύρωση. Προτείνουμε τη φιλία ως μοντέλο οργάνωσης και αυτοθέσμισης και ως μια πιθανή αξία που ξεφεύγει από τις νεοφιλελεύθερες επιταγές.
