On the wall of a street for pedestrians which is on the left as to the Entrance of the University and at a spot which is visible from the highway, we enlarged and copied a smudge of real dimensions 1cm x 1.5cm. The copy was an exact replica made through the use of a projector and in the color of a blue Bic pen.
Beyond the clash of the gestural nature with the mechanical elaborate enlargement and reproduction, the smudge was chosen as a rudimentary design form which is characterized by a non-verbal universality and also by the element of something personal and forbidden. It forms a design “minority”, something which is proven by many different expressions of prejudice. We chose to give a place of honour and to highlight this misunderstood but intimate form by developing a dialectic on the distinction of what is important and what is unimportant, between the rough and the elaborate, the beautiful and the ugly, between the acceptable and the non-acceptable.

Στον τοίχο του πεζοδρόμου που βρίσκεται αριστερά ως προς την είσοδο του πανεπιστημιακού χώρου και σε σημείο ορατό από τον αυτοκινητόδρομο μεγεθύναμε και αντιγράψαμε μια μουτζούρα πραγματικών διαστάσεων 1 επί 1,5 εκατοστών. Η αντιγραφή έγινε επακριβώς με χρήση προτζέκτορα και σε χρώμα στιλού BIC.
Πέρα από τη σύγκρουση μεταξύ χειρονομιακότητας και μηχανικής επιμελημένης μεγέθυνσης και αναπαραγωγής, η μουτζούρα επιλέχτηκε ως μια πρωτόλεια σχεδιαστική μορφή, η οποία ενέχει μια άγλωσση καθολικότητα και συνάμα το στοιχείο του προσωπικού και του απαγορευμένου. Αποτελεί σχεδιαστική «μειονότητα», πράγμα που αποδεικνύεται από ποικίλες εκφράσεις προκατάληψης.
Επιλέξαμε να δώσουμε θέση και να προβάλουμε την παρεξηγημένη αυτή οικεία μορφή αναπτύσσοντας μια διαλεκτική πάνω στο διαχωρισμό του σημαντικού και του ασήμαντου, του πρόχειρου και του επιμελημένου, του ωραίου και του άσχημου, του αποδεκτού και του μη αποδεκτού.
